Restoration of the First Century Faith
An Interfaith Initiative facilitated by Rabbi/Dr Irma "Elisheva" Diaz
Iron Sharpens Iron is an interfaith initiative for clergy and faith leaders seeking to recover the heart of first-century faith the way it was lived, taught, and embodied before division, institutionalization, and power distorted its original intent.
Rooted in the wisdom traditions of Hillel and Shammai, and illuminated through the teachings and life of Jesus, this space invites clergy to return to a faith shaped by humility, debate for the sake of heaven, mercy, justice, and deep reverence for God and humanity.
In the first century, faith was not safe or polished—it was relational, costly, and courageous. Disagreements were not avoided, but faced with integrity, because what was at stake was obedience to the will of God, not the preservation of power. Authority was measured by faithfulness, not position. The concern was for people, not prosperity; for justice, not influence. Leadership carried weight because it carried responsibility. Ministry was not staged—it was embodied, lived out among the poor, the sick, the doubting, and the brokenhearted.
Iron Sharpens Iron exists to call us back to that original fire.
Here, clergy are invited into honest dialogue, mutual sharpening, and soul-centered reflection—free from defensiveness, dogma, or competition. We engage Scripture, ancient wisdom, and lived experience to examine not only what we believe, but how we lead, how we love, and how we shepherd others in a fractured world.
This is not about recreating the past. It is about recovering the spirit of faith as it was meant to be—so that what we offer today may be more authentic, more compassionate, and more faithful to God’s original intention.
As iron sharpens iron, so one leader sharpens another—for the sake of truth, humility, and the healing of God’s people.
